ERTL Reconstruction

This is a website operated/maintained by Ertl procedure amputees, as well as supporters of the procedure. The included information concerning the current practicing Dr. Ertl(s) and the growing list of physicans performing the procedure, is done out of respect for them and to honor the memories of Janos Ertl, Sr. (the originator of the Ertl Procedure) and William G. Barr, one of thousands of Ertl recipients and avid advocate for the proper surgical care for the amputee.

ACA - Amputee Coalition of America

ACA is an organization established to reach out to people with limb loss and to empower them through education, support and advocacy. YAZ - Youth Amputee eZine - by ACA

YAZ is a fun website that offers information and encouraging stories oriented towards teens. A great resource for young people and their parents, this website not only puts the spotlight on young amputees who are great role models, but also has a nice link list that includes things like finding whelchair basketball clinics, summer camps and sports opportunities for kids and teens.

Where do you begin if, like most people, you need to find financial assistance to afford the equipment or services that you and your child need? This link lists resources representing only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the information and helps that are out there: recycled assistive devices, emergency medical transportation, healthcare assistance, and home and vehicle modifications. AAF - American Amputee Foundation

An organization dedicated to empowering amputees, their families and care providers with information, referral, peer counseling, self-help literature, and education. They provide a periodic newsletter to members, and in the Support Library offer several informational publications addressing personal, medical and legal topics. The AAF National Resource Directory is a good listing of links to other associations, disability organizations, and goverment agencies.

This organization provides a wide variety of support and advocacy programs and services for breast cancer patients and survivors. They also run a telephone hotline with counselors in 150 languages.

Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation

One of the largest organizations at the forefront of the battle against breast cancer, this website contains a wealth of support information and resources for those dealing with cancer and survivor issues. Although not specifically related to post surgery prothetics and non-surgical reconstruction, they are a valuable resource in areas of emotional wellness and self-esteem, family concerns, advocacy, financial and workplace concerns, research, peer support networking, and more.

American Cancer Society

The big daddy of cancer organizations. Their website is not really oriented towards prosthetic users, but has an abundance of information and resources for cancer victims and survivors.
